The Gift Box

September 18, 2018 by Steven Pauwels Leave a Comment

Something as precious as our virtues simply demand a worthy wrapping.

I created a special gift box for the tunes of the Divine collection. I remember the thought that crossed my mind when I was trying out some ideas with a pizza box. If I want to create something that everybody will love, pizza is a good way to start. With this present box, I was able to include the amazing variety traditional fabrics & all of their colors. A few different color combinations were made for the collection, however, an unlimited number of possibilities remain.

The box has a internal padding, to protect each virtue & give the box it’s specific touch & feel. The gift box is simply a pleasure to offer & the most beautiful happenings occur when you can witness the opening of them. Once opened, the box can be used in a variety of ways for the presentation of the flower. The box even has the possibility to transform into a wall light, with a few additional supports.

To cover can  be made with a silver  finish “maillechort alloy” or golden finish “copper alloy”. Both can be aged or left shiny. The shiny finish comes with a chrome coating. The Scent&Sense logo is cut out by hand & the sides are decorated with hand  marquetry. With the box, 3 more craftsmen & women participated in the co-creation, bringing the total to 8.

As everything is created to order, is perfectly possible to customize the cover with a 15×15 cm hand carved design at the same price.

Through-out the creation of this box, I also started writing about the precious gifts of life. These writings are available in the free download section.

Sales & distribution:

All gift boxes are co-created with several independent craftsmen in Marrakesh, Morocco. The gift box comes as an option & can also be purchased individually. They are available for sales & distribution worldwide. Full transparency is part of the Scent&Sense guidelines, so you’ll know the naked cost of creation. The price list is available in the free download section.

Compassion

August 14, 2017 by Steven Pauwels Leave a Comment

“Compassion is a flower that blossoms by feeling what lays protected in our own heart.”

We cultivate empathy by imagining and understanding the situation and background of the other. Compassion, however, only arises out of our felt sense experiences of uncovering our own heart.

“ I connected with compassion through the dance of letting go. It was only after seeing through my most important strategies of protection that I was able to engage in this dance. Working & alcohol had been my most obvious strategies but I discovered several others along the road. ”

The first steps of this dance are about accepting the arising judgments & beliefs about ourselves. We created these beliefs, early in life as protection to deal with difficult happenings.  These happenings are mostly referred to as our childhood woundings in the domain of psychology. As we were not able to give expression to our emotions at the time & release them, we held onto them.  This created residue in all of our bodies; our mental, physical, emotional & our energetic body.

“It is why at times it seems like we are over-reacting. We are !”

After these first steps, we’re able to allow ourselves to feel what moves inside of us as the dance continues. The dance of letting go brings us in touch with all that we protected ourselves from. As we go through different layers of emotional residue, our compassion awakens. Besides compassion, the dance of letting go will call upon courage & acceptance.

Compassion allows us to forgive ourselves, even though nothing needs to be forgiven. Forgiving is an act to clear emotional debt, memories & the energetic residue we hold inside. It can only be done with an open heart. It requires the willingness to feel what we didn’t want to feel anymore. As an adult, our understanding has evolved & now we know that we can remain present with this.

Gratitude

August 14, 2017 by Steven Pauwels Leave a Comment

“Gratitude allows us to receive the gifts of life & invites us to unwrap these gifts.”

We easily connect with gratitude when life is smiling at us and we received something we wanted. But when we receive something that is needed, gratitude can be far away. It is by turning our attention inwards that we start to discover a deeper sense and meaning of gratitude.

Gratitude takes us on a journey from our heads into our hearts. Too often, our virtues remain a mental concept. But they have the potential to transform into a felt sense experience that support us on the journey. When we thank the other it has often more to do with our learned behavior of politeness than a felt sense of gratitude.

We can practice the attitude of gratitude for every experience. Trust is the very foundation of that. Only when our experiences are different than what we had in mind, we can learn about ourselves. Whatever happens, we can be grateful that life is showing us that part of ourselves. Once we are conscious of this part, we obtain a new choice in the co-creation of our reality.

Life is about how we act & react to what happens on the dance floor. The more we become conscious, the better our ability to respond. Yes, expanded consciousness comes with a bigger response-ability & that’s a good thing.

Most of our learnings happen when we fall, but only when we get up again. Being grateful for falling is difficult in the beginning. It takes time. But only by dancing can gratitude transform into a felt sense experience. Gratitude allows us to receive the gift of creation so we can start to unwrap it.

“Discovering & offering our gift of creation to the world is our highest act of gratitude towards life. It brings us in touch with devotion.”

Confidence

August 14, 2017 by Steven Pauwels Leave a Comment

“Confidence is remaining present with whatever life presents us, even if we fall”.

Confidence does not mean we dance like we would have wanted to dance. It doesn’t mean we dance like others want us to dance either. Life’s experiences are not always as we want them to be. However, you may trust that they are always what we need to uncover more of our potential.

“I adopted high standards to achieve in my upbringing & had linked them with confidence. I also linked external references to this virtue, the opinion of others being the most important one. On my journey, I discovered how my partners of co-creation had created these patterns. During the co-creation of confidence,  I found a more honest & supporting meaning for confidence.

Confidence is trusting our ability to remain present  with whatever life presents us, even if we fall.”

We know that when we fall, we will be able to stand up. When we feel sad or angry, we will be able to remain present with these emotions. Letting go of our expectations while keeping a clear intend is one of the keys in discovering a more truthful sense of confidence.

With each dance, our ability to remain present with life happenings expands and so does our confidence. Confidence is rooted in trust & translates into the same in several languages.

With the basic understanding that we are the source of our experiences, confidence surely invites the tunes of honesty, courage & humbleness.

Letting go of control for a while invites us to connect with a different sense of confidence. Letting go of expectations & any form of judgments allows us to discover many hidden treasures. Too often, falling & failing are not valued for their richness and their opportunity to learn.

Humbleness

August 14, 2017 by Steven Pauwels Leave a Comment

“I am the creator of my own reality but I co-create with life, unfolding a bigger plan.”

We all have been granted the capacity to create. It is one of our most precious gift. We create our own inner reality, but we co-create it with life.

“Dance after dance, we allow ourselves to discover the unfolding of  a larger plan.”

“ The moment I started to see life as a learning experience with the intend to recognize my true nature & discover my own unique song, I touched upon humbleness. Life is my teacher and guides me through the reflections in the mirror. At some point in my life, I made it back from a human doing into a human being. From that moment, I  started learning what it means to be human & what it feels like, just to be. “

Life reflects ourselves through all of her manifestations. We learn about the true characteristics of our being by observing nature. We learn about our human aspects through the reflection of others & the different stories we create. The “other” is the most challenging one and that is a reflection on its own.

Humbleness, without judgements or falling into a victim role, builds stamina for the longer dances. Humbleness awakens gratitude and invites  grace to the dance floor. It invites us to surrender. It allows us to forget about the dancer from time to time and lightens our steps. Humbleness allows us to be foolish or a clown  from time to time.

Humbleness helps us to feel at ease while exploring the unknown. Moving in closer to the middle of the dance floor, our movements may become more subtle & more wild. Both sides of the spectrum are guarded by humbleness and make the experience of the dance, … more divine.

Humbleness makes the fruits along the way taste sweeter and prevents our mind from spoiling the experience of savoring the present moment.
