In my quest to make the most natural creations, I encountered many ways of deceit & lies in the form of fake certificates and hidden practices. Lacquered mango wood, for example, is offered as finished teak wood and many organic labels are handed out or sold to keep businesses alive. It definitely awakened my presence. Each time, I couldn’t help but see the reflection of my own conditioning.
I traced down the sources of all ingredients used for the “First Leaf Collection”. I found it not enough to like my nature, as social media reflected at the time. I needed to love my nature & created the label “ Life Loving Presents ” as a reminder of that.
I also traced down the cotton of all the fabrics & visited the fields on which they were cultivated. I visited the ateliers who colored the fabrics with flower and plant extracts. A procedure that has left the scene for more convenient chemical colorings.
I was touched to find out that the factory in Ahmedabad, that recycles cotton to make “paper”, mixed with flower petals, was founded by no other than Mr. Ghandi. The reclaimed teak wood is finished with fruit and vegetable extracts. No synthetic fillings or coatings are used as I found in other places.
I was informed that the most “nature-loving way” to cut and carve wood to obtain the detail and finish I desired, was light. And so it was done.
“ All of the creations of this First Leaf Collection are the purest manifestation of our nature, without any compromise. “
