Life is very much an embodied enterprise. As self-evident as this may be, it wasn’t for me. When someone asked me; “how do you feel?”, I had to think about that!
But I didn’t know what I was missing out on. Everything seemed normal and more than fine. It is fair to say that we don’t miss or value something when we’re not aware of its existence. Not knowing is definitely a significant learning path through life. It is hard to accept what we don’t know. My encounters with trustworthy people, showing me what we’re capable of, did it for me. There was definitely more to know about myself than what I was conscious about.
I conceptualized seven different bodies to get my mind along on the journey. A journey to explore some more of my inner world. It was way easier to get in touch with all of my bodies, once I imagined them.
Describing a mental body, besides my physical one, was an obvious choice. It helped my understanding to group all of my emotions into an emotional body. Later on, I also defined a masculine and feminine body. A life changer for sure, but ever before, I wouldn’t have considered anything feminine associated with me, I was clearly a man, but that had nothing to do with it.
The sixth body I conceptualized, was the most difficult one and took the longest to recognize and get in touch with. I called it my energetic or feeling body.
Last but not least, I added a “divine” body to represent the spark of oneness by which I came into being. I couldn’t let go of the idea that we all carry a memory of oneness along on our journey through life, so I held on to it. We carry all the other stuff around, why shouldn’t we hold on to that as well?
I started to explore my bodies through different breathing, massage, and cleansing techniques. I soon discovered that all of our bodies are layered and connected in numerous ways. All of them hold residue of past experiences, and all of them are infused with our script in their own specific way.
I discovered that physical pains were linked with emotional layers underneath, linked with thought and behavioral patterns, energetic blockages and so on. Underneath each layer, new layers appeared. Slowly, new sensitivities found their way into my awareness and allowed me to shift my attention so I could take care of them. It is simply amazing how little I knew about my own inner world.
All of our bodies are informed with our internal value hierarchy, not just our mental one! It is our energetic blueprint of creation. It is simply part of who we are, it is part of the condition of human nature.
