The fundamental principles of human nature show us, that how we experience reality is mainly determined by what resides in our unconsciousness. Expanding our consciousness therefor is the only sustainable way to alter our experience for the better.
Once we become aware of new elements that color and define our experience, we obtain a new choice. The next moment this element presents itself again, we will be able to act consciously, instead of our habitual reacting. These elements can be thought patterns, behavioral patterns, physical or emotional constructs and so on. They are fully incorporated through-out all of our bodies.
Everything we’re not conscious about keeps on filtering our reality. We only see a fraction of life’s potential. Liberating ourselves from these unconscious patterns will not only allow us to experience more of life’s potential, but it also allows us to see more of ours.
Exploring our unconsciousness, like a tree roots into the ground, is also known as the inner journey. A journey to discover and manifest the most authentic expression of our being, AKA our potential. The inner journey seems the perfect and maybe even the number one adventure to counter the inherent sufferings of human life and the very realization that all of our lives are finite and will end sooner or later.
Embarking on the inner journey, to explores one’s unconsciousness immediately confronts us with two main questions that are part of any journey. Where are we going and where do we start?
During a seminar with Darrell Calkins, I came across a map. This map represents different levels of reality. Obviously, I wasn’t the first person wanting to explore unconsciousness and alter my experience of reality. Many abstractions and representations had been transmitted throughout the whole history. Along my own journey, I was able to clearly recognize this map and find myself on it. What I share with you here, is an elaborated version of this map.
It is difficult to embark on a journey when we don’t know where we’re going. And if we come up with a vision or a dream, it doesn’t mean much if we don’t know where we are.
That’s what this map is for.
It is not like the kind of google maps we have today, where our starting position is shown by GPS and we know where we want to go. To explore the unknown, and discover our potential, we first have to find where we are and dis- or uncover our Inner Positioning System along the way, AKA intuition.
One way of looking at this map is to imagine different layers of reality. Each layer has two main components; consciousness and aliveness. These components manifest themselves in an unlimited variety of ways. All layers blend together into a sphere, and this sphere is our world of possibilities. The same external reality can be experienced through different internal layers. New choices open up different layers of consciousness and bring along different experiences of aliveness.
As we move through new layers, we bring our newly gained awareness into our external reality. We can experience different aspects of life (family, work, hobbies, health, etc.), through different layers of consciousness and aliveness.
The whole of reality in any given moment does not change, our perception and interpretation of what we define as being real, does. Expanded awareness provide for new opportunities and possibilities to choose from.
Conscious choices in every present moment allow us to carve our path through reality.
